Astronomers today are convinced that people living thousands of years ago were studying the movement of the sky. Astronomers in those ancient cultures had no telescopes or binoculars, but they had great power in that they could predict the changing seasons, track time, and predict events like eclipses and the risings of certain celestial objects. They knew about and were able to predict these and other cycles only by observing carefully over periods of days, and months, and years.
